— Art historian Austėja Mikuckytė-Mateikienė
„Jurgita Aniulė is accustomed to working with textiles. This is why she seeks texture in her painting as well. Monotype technique is particularly suitable for this purpose. In her paintings, the density of her impasto brushstrokes is accentuated by inlaid assemblage elements on the canvas. In other works, by painting elements of nature onto thin, pre-painted fabric, she creates a sense of depth through shadow. It is precisely the watercolor-like background that gives her elegant still lifes a sense of lightness, balancing the density of dark, heavy paint and allowing the work to breathe. The transparent layering on the fabric evokes environmental references — associations with the sea or autumn leaves.”
